Privacy policy

qabbel.mt is operated from Malta and complies with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Short version: you can compare without an account. We record outbound provider clicks for attribution, and only share enquiry details with the insurer or broker we name to you. You can ask us about your data at any time.

What we collect

  • Browsing: no accounts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless aggregate counter that stores no personal data and needs no consent, and — only if you accept the cookie banner — Google Analytics with IP anonymisation to understand how the site is used; declining changes nothing about how the site works. Clicks through to providers are logged (including IP address, approximate location and device type) to detect fraud and settle referral commissions with providers. Banking links also record the product version, starting amount, optional monthly addition and term you entered, but no banking application or account data. If you use a labelled Melita enquiry button, we record a random referral ID and the plan you viewed. Qabbel does not collect the contact details you enter on Melita’s form.
  • Enquiries: when you submit an insurance enquiry we collect the details you enter (vehicle, driver profile, contact details) together with a record of your consent.

Melita affiliate tracking

Qabbel participates in the affiliate programme operated by Melita Limited through affiliates.melita.com. Clicking a labelled Melita enquiry button opens its affiliate tracker and then Melita’s form. The tracker may set cookies on your device containing the referring website, advertising material, time of contact and Melita identifiers. These help attribute a later enquiry or sale and settle any commission due to Qabbel. The affiliate service also processes device information, including IP address, operating system and browser version, to improve the service and prevent abuse. Your browser settings can restrict cookies, which may affect tracking. See Melita’s privacy policy for more information and its opt-out options.

Lawful basis & sharing

Enquiry data is processed on the basis of your explicit consent, captured with the exact wording you agreed to. It is shared only with the Malta-licensed insurer or broker we name to you by email beforehand, so they can contact you, and we keep an audit trail of who received it. We never sell personal data, and we never share it for purposes other than your enquiry.

Retention & your rights

Enquiries are retained for up to 24 months for commission settlement and then deleted. You may at any time request access, correction, deletion, or withdraw consent by emailing [email protected]. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information and Data Protection Commissioner (idpc.org.mt).

Infrastructure

The site is hosted on Vercel with data stored in an EU-region Postgres database (Neon). Transactional email is delivered via Resend. Each processor is bound by a GDPR data-processing agreement.
